M-net Website Review

M-Net is a South African subscription television channel that offers children's programming, series’, magazine shows, reality TV, sports and movies. Many shows are obtained from international networks, but the channel also boasts a variety of locally produced content. Local hit shows include Idols V, Dis Hoe Dit Is Met Steve, Carte Blanche and Egoli.

The website is cleverly designed and it is especially refreshing to see pages that are free of annoying advertisements. Because of the nature of the content, the website is intended to be viewed on a larger resolution screen (1024x768 or better) and incorporates many flash elements.

Users can examine updated schedules of current and upcoming programming and use the global search feature to find information about their favorite television shows. Movie previews and online exclusive video shorts are available and registered viewers are able to leave rate clips and leave their comments. The website is also loaded with interactive content such as prize giveaways and several show-specific forums.

Obviously the website is mostly geared towards M-Net subscribers, but it can be enjoyable to take a look around and see what South African television has to offer.
