Kruger National Park Traveling Information

When Traveling To Kruger National Park:

Malaria is endemic in the park, particularly during the summer months (November - March). Please use a mosquito repellent and ask your doctor about malaria prophylaxis.
We advise you to adhere to the speed limits and take the travel times between camps and between gates and camps into consideration. Speed limits are strictly enforced and speeding is likely to result in a hefty fine.

Kindly also note the gate closing times of the rest camps given below. Latecomers may face a stiff fine.

Daily flights from Johannesburg to Skukuza and Phalaborwa. No aircraft may land at Skukuza or any other landing strip within the park without prior permission from the Park Warden.
Access roads to 8 entrance gates are tarred. Tourist roads in the park are either tarred, or good gravel roads; Speed limit: 50 km/h on tarred roads, 40 km/h on gravel roads and 20 km/h in restcamps. An average speed of 30 km/h on tourist roads is recommended for maximum safety and enjoyment. Kruger Gate is approximately 500 km from Johannesburg; Phalaborwa and Punda Maria gates both some 550 km. Since entrance gates and restcamp gates are closed at night, allow sufficient traveling time to ensure timeous arrival at your restcamp.
